12 Year Old Girl's Grandmother Kidnaps her from hospital at gunpoint to prevent transgender surgery
Gramma deserves a medal. She won't get one, but if she gets to be a great grandma it's a better win.
NEW ORLEANS — The mother of a 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped by her grandmother over the weekend in Jefferson Parish is now facing her own charge in connection with the investigation, officials said.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said Evelyn Miller, 66, was arrested Saturday by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office at a hotel in Bogalusa.
Her 12-year-old granddaughter, Adreana Miller, was found unharmed during the arrest.
State police said Adreana was taken at gunpoint from Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson Parish at approximately 5 p.m. Friday. Deputies said Evelyn Miller went into Adreana’s hospital room to remove her from the hospital. When hospital staff tried to stop her from leaving with the child, she pointed a gun at several of them, deputies said.
They also said while she was getting away, the grandmother pushed a nurse to the ground and hit a security guard with her SUV.
On Monday, a spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed Adreana's mother, Pamela Miller, was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact to simple kidnapping.
Investigators said Pamela Miller assisted her mother, the girl's grandmother, in fleeing the area and avoiding law enforcement officers.
Evelyn Miller will be extradited to Jefferson Parish.
Additional details were not released.
